Does anyone have any good smoothie recipes - the non-ice cream variety.
Thanks! |

I like to use low-fat vanilla yogurt as a substitute.
I also use frozen strawberries and blueberries. (fresh is better, but 3x as expensive.)
Last add a little ice, more if you use fresh fruit, and half a banana and a little bit of milk.
Blend! |

1. 125 gr oats
2. 100 gr frozen strawberries
3. vanilla yogurt
4. 50 gr protein powder, 2 big scoops.
5. 500 ml low fat milk
6. banana
7. 2tbsp peanut butter
Water as needed if too thick.
This is for lifters but you can do it as a meal replacement too. |

I don't really like cooked food in the morning and also don't care for cereal. Been drinking smoothies for years as breakfast.
In Korea I make it like this:
plain Denmark yogurt
lowfat milk
banana (or any other fruit that happens to be in the house)
protein powder
If I feel like it I sometimes add cinnamon, vanilla or oats to the mix. In days of yore I'd add ice or use frozen fruit but not anymore.
Oh, and drink it right from the blender container. No need for extra dishes to wash. |

I was just about to post this same recipe! I would also recommend something similar to the above, but instead use the following ingredients:
Chocolate Protein Powder
Plain yogurt
Ice cubes
Oats
Cinnamon
Instant Coffee
This makes a pretty tasty coffe smoothie. |

Thanks, you guys. I like your ideas - though I am no lifter and I only want a smoothie in the morning for breakfast (and for my daughter, too), so I will incorporate some of the stuff you mentioned, but sans coffee or oats - I only have quaker's instant oats, anyhow. ^^

LOL. I have a nanny.. she does my cleaning for me. I don't think it will bother her to wash the blender once a day. But thanks for the tip, I will be sure to pass it on to my single friends!
Please keep your favourite recipe coming! Thanks! |

Wow-10 minutes to load WTF Dave?
I only perservered because tzechuk is one of the nicer posters here.
So,
get some bananas, peel them and freeze them. I also buy frozen bags of fruit from Costco. During the summer smoothies are my dinner.
One of my favorites (have to love peanut butter though):
milk
peanut butter-1 or 2 tablespoons
2 frozen bananas-chopped
honey
raisins-4-5
another favorite:
Orange juice and icecream (vanilla)
small piece of lime
Normally the juice will curdle, but being frozen gives you something special.
Orange juice
frozen mango
frozen strawberries
lime rind (just a little)
Really though, any juice you like with any fruit. I buy 8-10 limes for the summer and slice and freeze them. Use them in smoothies for a touch of bitterness (and G&T's). Also freeze kiwis and make some nice smoothies with those (need to peel them first).
It's what you like really |

I use a good handful of frozen strawberries.
I put in one yogurt, or about 1/2 cup of milk. I add a peach, 1 plum, and some grape juice. It's pretty good. Instead of grape juice, you can use cranberry. |

Cherries work well too. But they're hella expensive.
The plum's skin gives it that sour backtaste. It rocks. |

My best friend had just posted this on facebook. I had it at her house last summer when I visited, and it's delicious!
Buckeye Frapuccino
Recipe: 1/2 cup leftover coffee
1 cup milk (rice milk for us)
1 frozen banana
1 cup ice cubes
chocolate syrup (I used ovaltine powder)
1 spoonful peanut butter
Blend and enjoy! |
