Good Discovery episode on Vietnam war. Korean soldiers were not very nice. They raped the women and torn childrens limbs apart according to eyewitnesses. I was very shocked to learn Koreans were there before the Americans. Has anybody seen the episode in Discovery? I never heard about those atrocites by Koreans. I usually hear about comfort women of the japanese. The dirty laundry is out.

Scmucks like us can only speculate as to what happened.
Fact is we were not there, we did not know what it was like, we don't know what actions were justified or not.
The Hankoreyah has covered this a lot, but its a major leftie newspaper so its credibility is very low.
The discovery program although an excellent documentary does tell some of the story from the viewpoint of the communists. Has to be taken with a pinch of salt.

From what my father told me (he served as a crew chief in 'Nam), a lot of the soldiers who fought in Vietnam had lost family to the commies in the Korean war, so there was some sense of revenge that fueled some of the nasty stuff.

They do that to animals (such as pigs) at their street protests. One rope tied to each leg and everybody pulling in opposite directions.
Cruelty to animals leads in to cruelty to other people, I think.

-thats hardly a Korean thing- the american GI's were at that as well.

Rape and pulling a childs legs off is never justified, GM.

It wasn't just Koreans:

Quote:
The My Lai Massacre (My Lai.ogg pronunciation (helpinfo), approximately [mi.˧˩˥'lɐːj˧˧])[1] (Vietnamese: thảm st Mỹ Lai) was the mass murder of 347 to 504 unarmed citizens in South Vietnam, all of whom were civilians and some of whom were women and children, conducted by U.S. Army forces on March 16, 1968.

Many of the victims were sexually abused, beaten, tortured, or maimed, and some of the bodies were found mutilated.[2] The massacre took place in the hamlets of Mỹ Lai and My Khe of Sơn Mỹ village during the Vietnam War.[3][4] While 26 US soldiers were initially charged with criminal offences for their actions at My Lai, only William Calley was convicted. He served three years of his life sentence.

When the incident became public knowledge in 1969, it prompted widespread outrage around the world. The massacre also reduced U.S. support at home for the Vietnam War. Three U.S. servicemen who made an effort to halt the massacre and protect the wounded were denounced by U.S. Congressmen, received hate mail, death threats and mutilated animals on their doorsteps.[5] Only 30 years after the event were their efforts honored.[6]

The massacre is also known as the Sơn Mỹ Massacre (Vietnamese: thảm st Sơn Mỹ) or sometimes as the Song My Massacre.[7] The U.S. military codeword for the hamlet was Pinkville.[8]

Only one service man was charged and he only served three years?! Disgusting.

I am just surprised to hear of this for the first time. Koreans complain about Japanese atrocities and comfort women, but no one ever mentions what they did in Vietnam. I am surprised vietnamese women are not protesting for reparations also.

and let's not forget skinning any poor hapless VC or civie that crossed their paths....

pretty well documented in Vietnam....and Vietnamese who served on both sides have told me that they feared the Koreans more than anyone else...

and today Korean factory bosses and business owners are seen as something approaching slave-owners....not well respected nor liked

The Koreans I've come across in VN act like pigs towards the local women and treat the locals with disdain.....

not very good ambassadors of their home country..
