I have decided to try and sell this again...
I am knocking down the price.
this is a great lens...
I am selling because I want to buy either a sigma 18-50 2.8 or a tamron 17-50 2.8
There is nothing wrong with this lens. It is in perfect, pristine shape...very new, bought about a month ago. Will include original box, instructions, etc...just as if you bought it new.

Price on Gmarket: http://www.gmarket.co.kr/challenge_eng/neo_goods/goods.asp?goodscode=125727026&pos_shop_cd=SH&pos_class_cd=111111111&pos_class_kind=T&keyword_order=sigma+18-200
New price as of May 4th, 450,000 or best offer...that's more than 150,000 savings on a practically brand new lens compared to gmarket.

| I'm not sure if that is a good price, but for that price you can get a used 18-200 3.5-5.6 VR Nikon Lens. |

well this does come with 3 really nice filters...ND8 is really good for shooting waterfalls or other situations where less lighting is needed
CPL's are nice for landscapes
this lens is practically brand new...taken care of very well
price is not rock solid...my OP said i would be willing to negotiate...but not in a rush to sell..
this lens is practically brand new...
one of the nice things about the sigma is that it has a switch on the lens to prevent lens creep...something nikon didn't incorporate into their lens...there have been a lot of reviews saying that the nikon and sigma 18-200 lens were very comparable...sigma just set it at a price that was more attractive |

| Are all lenses more expensive in Korea? You get it new with warranty on ebay for 300 U.S dollars. |

I believe the one you saw on ebay does not have OS (optical stabilization)...thus making it cheaper.
If you don't know what OS is...it is basically the same thing as VR (vibration reduction) that nikon puts into their lens.
For those of you who don't know what OS or VR is, it basically allows you to take sharper, clearer shots at the higher focal lengths...comes in real handy..
If you don't have OS or VR, then a lot of your shots at 200mm have a higher probability of being soft or blurry.
Even if you did order the $300US dollar one from ebay, after shipping, mine would still probably be the same price (if converted to won), but you wouldn't have the OS...
if you get the one I am selling, not only do you get OS, but also warranty, not to mention a test run before you buy it =) |

ok...so i did a check up on ebay just to make sure...
the cheapest sigma 18-200mm OS for nikon I could find was $382.99USD (buy it now). Add on $62USD for shipping to Korea...comes out to $444.99USD. Convert that won, comes out to 596,501won..
Mine is still a good deal =) |

you are all free to order from ebay if you would like...i can appreciate the fact that you all want the cheapest price possible. If you have the money back in the US to buy this lens, by all means go ahead.
..however I would be wary of ebay sellers selling abroad...I personally have not bought anything from ebay since moving to korea...the thought of buying a defective item and having to return it gives me a headache i.e. the time it takes to get the item + the time it takes to get your money back could be a month or more, not to mention the cost of shipping it back...but hey, some people swear by ebay...more power to them.
like I said with my lens, you can try before you buy...and my lens is practically new...you can actually use it and test it out before you buy it..
with all of that said, I would really appreciate it if you actually read the first post...my first post says...500,000 or best offer |

just a note to let anyone know who is ordering from overseas, that you have to take into consideration the import tax. Anything that the post office sees with a foreign name on in a package from overseas is subject to search, and they search foreigners packages from overseas all the time. I have had mine searched on 4 different occasions.
If you ship something from overseas to here, then you have to deal with the import tax hassle, which is crazy expensive. A $400 item (580,000 won) item will have about a 150,000 import tax fee.
So, you can gamble a little and buy, or just buy here. I have had 5 packages sent, 4 of them searched.
I think the OP's price is maybe a little high, as, even though he said he has taken pristine care, the bottom line is that it IS used. But, it's not that much, and he is willing to negotiate, plus, as I said, you are gambling with the import tax. I'm sure you can get a fine price with OP.
And to answer someone else's question, yes, lenses are more expensive here (at least the good ones). Companies are taking advantage of Koreans new found hobby of taking pictures, and this is a culture where people need to spend a lot of money to have the best. |
