So I was just curious what the Medical Examination was about. Is it like a physical? Do they take blood tests? Urinal tests? Any information on this would help. Thanks! |

They do a urine test, blood test, hearing test, eye test, even a dental check up. I did mine about a year ago now, but I don't think it's changed. |

From memory, it includes the following
-Urine Test - drugs
-Blood Test - HIV/AIDS
-Chest X-ray
*These are the most critical. Your experience will vary from hospital to hospital. Mine also included the following:
-Eye Exam
-Blood Pressure (Of course, mine was high)
-Weight/Height
-Hearing Test
-Liver Function (not good here either)
-Dental Check (nothing more than a guy shoving a mirror in my mouth) |

Thanks for the heads up, but I do have another question:
Does it matter if you are overweight or founded to have an unknown disease (HIV/AIDS)? What if you have cavities?
Sorry, I know these are a little personal, but I was just thinking that it would suck if you traveled half way around the world and they sent you back home because you had an unknown disease or a few cavities |

The critical issues are having infectious diseases. HIV/AIDS would be a show stopper. Drugs in your system would also be bad. Tuberculosis would also be bad.
Having cavities is not an issue. Depending on where you go, you may or may not have some form of dental check. Mine seriously consisted about about 20 of some guy with a small dental mirror! Being overweight is not an issue.
I had elevated blood pressure and a high liver count! I probably shouldn't have been drinking excessively the night before. The doctor lectured me. I got my paper. Nobody blinked an eye at immigration. |

They made me take a urinal test... and I passed (apparently my aim was good enough). |

Yes it would suck to travel halfway around the world and get sent home for an unknown disease and since the only way to know if you have an unknown disease is to get screened at home beforehand, that seems like a smart idea.
My test was just pee in a cup and some blood drawn with my arm stretch over a desk for a total of 15,000 won. I don't think the other stuff is necessary. |
