I currently use HDMI hooked to my 42" LG XCanvas and it has worked perfectly for the last couple of months.
The picture quality is amazing and the video fills the entire screen on the TV, until last week. Without warning and without change, whenever I use HDMI on the TV it now is always letter-boxed, and doesn't fill the entire screen.
I haven't changed any settings, and I'm even downloading the files from the same torrent sites as before so I have no idea what has happened to make this happen. I know it's only a little detail, but it's frustrating when it seems to have changed all on it's own, I even bought a new HDMI cable and that didn't help.
Any ideas? |

I really can't imagine it's anything to do with the HDMI cable.
Likely cause would be aspect ratio setting. You say you haven't changed the aspect ratio setting in your TV, so maybe the stuff you've downloaded recently is in a different aspect ratio. Just because they're from the same torrent site doesn't mean all the movies must be in the same aspect ratio!!
Movies could be in aspect ratios of 16:9, 16:10 or even 2.21:1...............depends. |

It's probably a setting on your TV.
I have an LG, and you have to go into one of the menus and set it up as a computer monitor on the input, or something like that, to get it to recognize and size correctly. I haven't seen the menu in forever, because I never have to set it, but these things can change accidentally with a power spike. It's happened to me. |
