I teach at an elementary school, and my co-teacher told me earlier today that the vice principal said he should be looking for a new job. Both of our contracts end in September. There is a chance I will be able to stay, but under different circumstances. The Board of Education is not going to fund another year for this English zone. They spent a lot of money to build all this and have a big interactive screen in the main classroom.

It surprised me, but if the head English teacher teaches the book material and uses the main classroom, it would make sense since the role play areas are really too much for the 1st -3rd graders.

Then I asked about the teacher through the TALK Program. I was even more surprised to find out that she is also leaving, and she will have to leave earlier, like in June or July.

Is this something happening on a greater scale? Are the schools that have these English zones rethinking things and stopping programs (like the TALK one)? I don't really know about it, and this school in particular has 5th graders leave the school because the middle school in this area is not good.

I am wondering if this is a decision the Board of Education made because of the location I teach in or if it is a result of something bigger. Why would they dish out all this money and stop (kinda abruptly)?

Well... I honestly hope they stop throwing money around and start doing things that will actually make a difference...

Don't worry bout it too much.

The school is losing their native teacher so the Korean teacher needs a place to teach. Rolling Eyes

Yeah, they should fire the Korean English teachers. That would save a ton.
