So he has been publicly reprimanded for trying to get the lower court judges to rule more quickly on the American beef demonstration organizers last year.
But whose ox was getting gored by all that? I mean, was he trying to support the beef protesters or trying to get them all thrown in jail for good? All the newspaper articles fail to mention just what the significance of his trying to speed up the process was.
So was he pro US beef or anti US beef? Anybody know? |

Well, this article says:
Article wrote: |
Prof. Choi Song-hwa, head of the commission, said at the Supreme Court in southern Seoul, ``Shin's acts of emailing junior judges to discourage them from releasing anti-U.S. beef protesters on bail and encourage them to expedite trials were apparently inappropriate. They could be seen as power abuse.''
...
Shin had encouraged judges to swiftly conclude the trials before the Constitutional Court ruled whether or not the law banning outdoor protests after sunset ㅡ a key article in the protester indictments ㅡ was constitutional.
...
The letters also included messages that could be translated as encouraging the judges to find the defendants guilty.

His leanings seem pretty clear. |

So he likes his American beef then, right? That was my take on it, too, but none of the articles I read were very clear regarding the actual content of his messages - just that he had been trying to get them "to rule" quickly. |
