Hi all,

I will be coming to Korea in early September with my husband- I'll be doing research on a fellowship and he'll be looking for work. The catch is that we'll only be in Seoul for 6 months, and then will be moving to Jeonju for 1-2 years. We realize it will be a pain for my husband to find anything like a 6 month contract, and if he is able to find some part-time or temporary work we don't expect that he'll get the plane ticket paid or a housing allowance. So, our plan is for him to study language full time for 6 months in Seoul. We can afford this but it will be tight, and so we're still thinking that he might try to find something part-time. So, my questions:

1) Where is a good place to look for part-time and/or temporary jobs in Seoul? (We'll be near Seoul National). If he's attending classes at Seoul National is it worth it to see if they'll hire him temporarily at the institute there (not a university job, but a unigwon). Do any employers provide visas for part-time work (20 hours a week or so)?

2) Once we're in Seoul, how soon should he start looking for a public school job in Jeonju for March?

3) Is it easy to switch from a student D-4 visa to an E-2 visa while in Korea? What things (background check, etc.) should he get done BEFORE leaving the U.S., even if he won't start working for 6 months?

Thanks for your advice!
