|
|
Hello,
I was hoping for some clarification in regards to the whole 4 year degree rule to get the visa for Korea (degrees are 3 years in the UK so assume this means the US etc?).
I studied part time to get a HNC Business Management from Manchester Metropolitan University. I then continued my studies for a further 2 years part time to obtain BA (Hons) Business Studies.
Due to the fact that I had obtained a HNC meant I joined the degree course in year 2 instead of year 1 as I was exempt from the first year. So I was at university for a total of 4 years, but this encompasses my HNC and my BA. Is this sufficient for the work visa? A bit of an odd situation but thanks for any help!!

as long as your degree certificate says "BA Subject" on the certificate I don`t see there being a problem. I have a 3 year degree like yourself (and as you said, most Brits do)......I know you might see recruiters saying you must have a 4 year degree but that`s bollox.

You'll be fine. It's your degree they're interested in not how long it took you to get it.
It'll pay you not to complicate the Koreans' head space with talk of your HNC as it's unlikely that they'll be able to get their heads around it. It took me about 2-hours to explain to my CT that my degree was a joint Honours. Once I'd unraveled that particular ball of string, it then took me about another hour to explain the address of my university. Mind you, and as much as I love my Mr. Lee, he is a bit of a potato head. |

Yeah its just because I noticed some agencies say you need 3 years of transcripts. Although my degree should have taken me 3 years, I did it in 2 due to my other qualification....so only have 2 years of transcripts. |

I did a very similar thing. I did a HND (2 years), then a year of a degree I hated. I then jumped onto the final year of an honors degree. I only have one years worth of transcripts, and to complicate it more, my transcripts were a photocopy of the handwritten originals
Just don't mention it. The transcripts are not opened by your boss, and Immi don't care as long as they have a university stamp on them and are from a real Uni, and have the letter BA or BSc somewhere. |

Not a problem. Most 3 year commonwealth BA Art degrees are equivalent to 4 yr BA Art degrees from the USA. However, there is a difference with education degrees which may be 4 years and with some other courses. |
