|

I have a set of DVDs (almost all sets, but it's in a DVD carrying case with about 150 discs) left back at home that my Mom is going to ship out to me, along with some shoes, clothes, and new toiletries I'd purchased but couldn't fit in my luggage.
She's sent (obviously used) winter clothes and shoes to me successfully before, and there was no problem or customs delay.
Is there any real reason to believe it'll be a problem to get a few toiletries or the DVDs through customs? I guess I was worried about the DVDs because it seems like a weird thing to send and the toiletries because they're obviously new (why ship them otherwise?).
But I'm thinking "no" that it won't be a problem and the co-workers I asked looked at me like I was crazy for asking, but I just wanted to check and see what the general consensus might be.
Thanks, in advance, to anyone who answers. |

| I received 75 DVDs/ CDs in a case along with some paperwork several months ago. These were all DVDs and CDs that I had owned and watched / listened to previously. My family declared the value as $0 and marked the "gift" box. No issue with customs. |

Depends what the DVDs are.
I bought the original Japanese "Ring" DVD set off of eBay (the Korean DVDs are edited for content). Customs confiscated the DVDs because they "contributed to the lowering of morals in Korea" I think is what they said, or something very similar to it (ie. broke censorship laws).
I asked to be able to just return them to sender, and they said no, so I lost my money on the DVDs. I asked what they were going to do with them, and they said they would be destroyed after being reviewed. Why are they being reviewed, I says, when you have already determined they are too violent and gory for Korea's sensibilities and confiscated them from me? "We are the government, so you can trust us". I know, I know, I laughed out loud, too.
I don't trust them to not just add the DVDs to their home libraries so I keyed the DVDs right there in the customs office before I left, rendering them unplayable. If I can't have them, they can't either. |
