I think my fiance and I are going to sign our marriage papers this friday.
(He's Korean, I'm American)
Do we need witnesses?
If so, do they have to be Korean? |

My info is a little outdated (1995), but at that time the answer was no. We did not need a witness. |

when my wife and I got married in 2006, I believe we were supposed to have a witness, but the guy at the office just signed it and that was cool. Or maybe we called her dad and he agreed to "sign" the paper over the phone. I remember calling him, but I can't remember if it was for that or not.
If you need witnesses, you could probably just grab someone there to sign off. |

You don't need witnesses actually present. You can just use a stamp/seal of one of his relatives. |

I second the congratulations! My situation was a little different...we're both foreigners but got married here ( UK and US citizens). We were told we needed witnesses, but yet at no point were they asked for. At the Gu office, the woman who took our papers had stamps with random Korean names to put on the 'witness' line. You should be fine. |

We had people with us (his nationality, my nationality, and Korean,) but at no point in the process needed witnesses. As others said, the woman at the gu office may have just taken care of this for us. |
