A few of my kids have black-belts, even the very young ones. I asked one to demonstrate and he proceeded to drunk tackle my leg.

I thought having a black belt was recognition that you had a standard of fighting competency, but it seems like every Joe Soap (read Kim Park) has one over here.

I wonder if the same imperative to go up a notch or two regardless of your competency applies to the hagwon system and taekwondo system alike.

most competent kids will move up a poom / black belt every year or two until they reach a certain age then it becomes more difficult, these are not proper black belts (dan) as they have to be over 18 to get them, and to do that they start at 1st degree and do all the poom se / formations over again

although i got mine in less than 9 months and i'm very incompetent Smile
