|
|
I have some kids that have missed 6 classes so far on Fridays. The classes were changed around last week and now some of those kids have class on Wednesdays. Last Wednesday classes were canceled so those kids have missed 7 classes.
Today is the most original reason that most of my classes are cancelled- the middle school kids are going to play Dominoes.
So in a school where I only see the kids once a week so far since March some kids have only had 4 English classes. |

I'm sorry about your class situation. It sounds a bit of a demotivating factor when you (probably) put in lesson planning time and are there to do a good job. If it makes you feel any better this happens a lot where I teach school. My classes sometimes just don't show up to the English room and when I go to look for them I am told something about a singing lesson, or a guitar lesson or they went on a picnic. No notice, no professionalism...and after a year of this I have started to not plan quite as much. I am not sure whether the schools exist for educational purposes or just to give people jobs. |

I teach at two schools. At one I see each class once every two weeks; at the other once every three. This is barring cancellations from tests, test prep, vacation, trips, and times when the classes no-show. Today I'm scheduled to meet grade 2. I saw one of these classes for the first time on March 26th. Next, on April 17, it was cancelled b/c of test prep. Next, May 7th, it was cancelled because the teacher wanted to review the results of the test. Today it was cancelled b/c of a fire drill. So next will be June 19th. |

Wow just wow. It becomes obvious that they are actually trying to sabotage English learning. I don't suggest saying anything because my efforts to get a bit of respect have turned into some big dramas. I wish I could just go with flow but I have this need to be useful. |

This is why I'm so hesitant to leave a nice gig where I only have to teach at one school. I can even follow / supplement what the KETs are doing in their lessons and contribute to exams - what a novel concept, eh? |

Today I lost my 6th period class because of an earthquake drill... thinly veiled nuclear holocaust practice imo. |

Today I was supposed to loose my fifth periord for one ... but then that got cancelled so I still got to teach 40 minutes of it. The students sure weren't in learning mode after that, though. |
