Does anyone know anything about screen golf in Korea? What is it and what sort of places are they? Any information greatly appreciated.

If you enjoy golf, then screen golf will be okay. My friends play every once in a while after having a couple of drinks. Betting makes it a lot more fun.

Basically, you have an astroturf mat like at a driving range and you hit at a screen. A launch monitor probably measures your launch angle, ball speed, etc. to measure where your ball went. The screen displays everything like a video game.

If you like golf, you should check it out and make a decision for yourself. It's not close to the real thing but for an avid golfer like me, it's alright every once in a while. 9 holes go for around 10-20,000 won. 18 holes for 20-30,000 won.

Good one. Thanks for that, I was hoping that was what it was but never got around to having a game. Golf is just too expensive here and I am missing it.

Do you take yur own clubs etc? Is there a bar in those places (there is in one I went to in Australia)?

I know certain golf clubs are exclusive in who they let use their courses, but me and 2 others were refused entry to one in Yongin on the basis that we weren't experienced golfers.

It should be OK for experienced players like yourself, but for us chancers it depends on which one you attend.

You can take your own clubs but they also provide clubs for you there. None of the places I've checked out have nice clubs. They may have a TM R5 driver but the rest of the clubs are pretty crappy. All of the irons I've seen have graphite shafts. They also provide gloves and shoes.

At the very least, I bring my own glove. The gloves they have are a bit gross. I found a guy on the street selling golf gloves... 3 for 10,000 won. They're pretty decent, too. Footjoy knockoffs but I can't really tell the difference and they're more than sufficient for screen golf.

There's no bar inside but they do serve beer. You get a private room and they'll bring it to your room. Sometimes, we BYOB but it's fun when you rack up a bit of a beer bill and bet so the loser pays.

I was always worried the ceiling wouldn't be high enough. I'm pretty tall with extra-long clubs.

You mean a DRIVING RANGE? That's what we call it in the real world. Wink

It is over-priced and silly. Just head back home for a few weeks and play a proper game of golf.
