In case you don't know him, the Mak Gul Li man pulls a cart filled with some of the best tasting mak gul li (where does he get it? It's a major company but I've never found the exact same bottle found in stores) and sells it at ridiculously cheap prices - usually something like 4 bottles for 5,000 won.
I was lucky enough to stumble across him when my friend visited me and it made his trip.

My friend claims he's 60 years old, but I don't believe it! Hauling around that cart has got him in tip-top condition. The man is huge!

What I heard is that he began selling the rice wine after his mother did it but fell sick. He also reportedly got a few gangsters mad for invading their turf and laid low for a time, but he's back.
Where he gets his enthusiasm would be a million dollar secret! |

I'm 100% serious when I say I'd like to do a documentary about one day in his life. |

I had the intention of doing that once but it fell through. It would be awesome.
Best friend! |

Didn't know he was so famous. I saw him last night (actually he saw me first) and he greeted me like he's known me for years. Pretty wild.
Cool enough guy, but I didn't need any wine. |

Yeah, it was my first sighting of him this year and I'd just bought myself a beer. |

I got some drink from him- seen him a handful of times and every time I do he makes me laugh. Like a Korean Kramer, you wonder how he makes it from day to day... |

I feel bad for that bloke, I can't help but hug him every time he comes by. However I'm not sure I can agree with the statement that it's the best makkoli ever. I don't think any type of makkoli can be considered good! |

heh, love that guy.
it isn't the best tasting makkali, but yeah, it's hella cheap.
i usually buy a bottle from him just for a sip of the stuff, but leave it in the park for some punk teenagers to drink after a show. |
