So my uni just made everyone one campus install ViRobot and as I reside on campus, I was required to install it on my Vaio. To do so, I had to uninstall my paid for and highly liked program, BitDefender Total Security.
Anyway, any opinions on this product? Thanks... |

Crapware.
My uni does a similar thing; asks us to install Ahnlabs A/V. I crippled it, but the system still sees it there, so all is good. I run Avira on the same machine without issue. Its an XP install.
I recommend you do the same. Don't ditch your real software; install what they require then essentially shut it down without uninstalling it. |

| Yeah, the tech tried leaving BitDefender on my computer but it wouldn't install ViRobot fully. Even if I disabled the firewall, still it wouldn't load correctly and had multiple failures. The only way to get it to work was to uninstall BitDefender. I'm not pleased! Thanks for your opinion. |

I have no personal experience with the software, but the first reputable Google hit says it's dicey. Not to bash, but Korea writing an AV program is like prisoners building their own cells; they aren't going to do what they should.
I guess you will have to fiddle with the configuration; I did the old "msconfig" to disable the startup, then "services.msc" to make sure anything ws set to "manual" or "disabled" then "regedit" and deleted anything in the "run" or "run once" sections of those strings too long to write here. If I recall, I actually deleted the entire entry for Ahnlabs, just to see what happens. The normally blue "V" in the system tray sits gray and silent now.
