Hi boys and girls,

I've just accepted a job offer to a school in Uiwang and sent all my papers off. I've done a bit of searching and the summary of what's on here seems to be - nice area, close to fun area (Anyang), bit of a trek to central Seoul but still accessible.

It seems all the posts here on Uiwang are from about 2-3 years ago though. One mentions an open-mic night that another says is finished and now a hip-hop club!

So what's the current deal in Uiwang and its surrounds? Are there any open-mic nights going now - I wouldn't mind bashing out a song or two sometime! And are there other events like football or poker going on? I would be keen to get involved in a bit of both. And volleyball if it's on the go.

Also where are the good spots for going out in the area or surrounding areas these days? Can you go late anywhere locally or do you have to make the trek into Seoul for a big night out?

Any info gratefully received!

John.
