How do you know if your employer has cancelled your visa?

This question just popped in my head. Does immigration inform you if your employer cancels your visa with your knowledge? In the past immigration would send a letter in the mail and a text to my phone stating the date I had to leave the country, but that was at the end of a contract. What happens if you are already in a contract and your employer cancels your visa? Will immigration still notify you?

My visa was cancelled last year without my knowledge. I had to call immigration to find out what was happening. The first few times I called they refused to tell me over the phone. But eventually I got through to someone who told me that it had been cancelled a week previously (my employers, who had gone bankrupt, told me they were going to give me a LOR to transfer but in the end they cancelled it without telling me, and then refused to answer or return my calls). Immigration were nice for once and extended my exit order an extra two weeks.

School cancels visa on the notice I got for the 31st of May. What happens next, can anyone tell me..what do I do? Do I need to go to immigration or turn the ARC in at the airport since the notice says it cancels 31 May?

At the airport, on or before the 31st, hand your passport, ARC and boarding pass to the Immi officer and say -
"Do do do, da da da da... that's all I want to say to you." The officer will look at you genuinely confused. When you have his/her attention, use the honorific form of address and insist on getting a 'Cancelled' stamp on your visa... refuse to move until it's done... don't allow yourself be 'bluffed' or worry about holding up the people in line behind you... eff 'em... this is important shit.

He/she will then have no choice but to process the cancellation.

Yes, but you need to apply for a new visa for your new position. You will need all your documents including CRC and sealed transcripts.

Verbal notice doesn't count.

The clock starts ticking the day you receive 30 days (written) advance notice of dismissal (or pay in lieu). Considering you're coming back to K-land, you can be a real 'pain in the ass' to your former employer... sweet! Cool

Too many people just figure it's not worth the fight, cut their losses, give up and leave the Land of the Morning Soju-Soaked Ajoshie Taking a Piss in the Hallway. The Ks know and depend on this fact.

It will not be an easy battle. However, if you persevere, you will eventually win.

I got my regular paycheck minus the settlement allowance and insurance and pension for the time to the 30th. However, no 30 day notice. only 15 day written notice per the GEPik contract.

Go to your school's financial officer and ask for fifteen days pay. When he says "No", tell him you are petitioning the Labor Relations Commission under Article 32 of the Labor Standards Act. Then do it!

If she has been working with an employer under 6 months she cannot go this route. I learned this the hard way.
