Things for esl teachers to do in Changwon
Soccer at the rotary
Friendly Poker games on Thursdays and Fridays
Friday night has a w10 000 Bacon Cheesburger and beer special at one bar and then free food at the other...
Occasionally they have pub quizzes on Sunday nights
Watch the latest shows at any of the 3 cinema's (Lotte, CGV or Megaline)
If you are a mall rat they have one of the best malls outside of Seoul... Has Roots Canada, DKNY, Bandi and Loonie's bookstore and Quizno's which is way better than subway. Also a load or restuarants and a really snazzy wine bar on 3rd floor with a whole outdoor section...
You can relax at one of the 3 starbucks or coffee bean and tea leaf...
Go eat Indian food at BOMBAY, an upmarket Indian restuarant similar to GANGA in Busan...
Also some nice cheapish Italian food at GINO's which can be found inbetween e-mart and the lake...
Take a walk around the manmade lake where you can feed the inbred fish and check out the ducks and swuck (it's like a half swan half duck). You can also walk on special sharp stones there to relieve stress...
Across from the lake there is this really good dvd room (6th floor of building where the bakery is). It is not major dodgy and they put blankets in sterilizers and don't reuse them. They give you free popcorn and drinks if they like you... There is one room that can fit like 10 people in it quite comfortably and they have a great selection of English dvd's... also has free internet and playstation games while you wait if rooms are full. Floor above that has a nice kareoki room place too...
If you don't have a bike it's a good idea to get one off one of the teachers leaving... I had a scooter. Great for bike trips to nearby islands... You can drive up the mountain and overlook Jin Hae and the sea... they sell drinks there and even hot chocolate in winter.
If you would like to visit a church, a good one is the English service at Hanbit Church (you can tell a taxi driver Hanbit GyoHae), it has quite a few foreigners in attendance and they also plan different events like visiting the Dinosour festival and orphanages etc.
Loads more I could add but those are the main things... |
