Did you meet up with dean_burrito from that other thread?

Dude you live in Hongdae and it's a Saturday night. You can't walk very far without tripping into *beep* around there.

Find a bar, drink and talk to random people. The worst they can say is *beep* you. And you wouldn't want to hang out with those people anyways.

There's facebook groups and adventure korea stuff (?) that you can find info about on here if you search hard enough.

Or you can just be content to be alone like me sometimes. Confused

no, i didn't meet up with mr. burrito, i'm on a super tight budget until my foreign check clears the bank, and i literally have 30k to my name, which is enough for pubbing, but not enough for clubbing or live bars with cover Surprised

that's what i usually do though when i'm going solo, go down to hongdae or sinchon and have random conversations with bar goers...

earlier, i thought of doing that and didn't feel like it, but i don't know, after reading your post, sounds like a good idea all of a sudden Very Happy

If you can't find fun in Seoul, you have bigger problems.

Your thread title reminded me of what Walter said in episode 3 / Fringe

"I surmised that I could introduce an iridium based organic metallic compound into..the subjects brain! The government of course, was extremely interested..."

It all comes down to you. I've been bored in Korea plenty of times. Then again, I've been bored in every place I've lived. It happens. Usually those are the times I try to pick up a movie that I haven't seen and just chill.

You have a computer + internet? Download something and watch it. If you have been doing that and are bored, go out and talk to strangers.

There is a saying in Korean that might pick up your spirits.

Quote:
Today you are living with life wasted and bored
but yesterday the dead are envious of the living.

Something like that.
What is basically means is that the we are living our lives with boredom but we should realize we already have a great gift of living and make the most of it.

We have a lot of freedom and exciting things at our disposal but after time we get sucked into a Englishee teachign routine and forget the fact that we live free and exciting lives. ESPECIALLY compared to Koreans (Go ahead and ask them about their lives, depressing to say the least)

With my free time, I like to do a lot of small things that make me happy. It's really the small things in life that make you happy and free from boredom.

There's many things to enjoy while being bored. Human hapiness is often tied to beign social. So it's easy to see why people become secluded and depressed after some time here. The best thing would to be get a best frien. But sometimes, a K-girlfriend/boyfriend won't suffice. There are too many diffrences that you cannot share in small similar things you share. It's not necessary for a relationship so it's not a big deal. But if you have a buddy to share in the crazy things to do. You'll have a lot more fun
