Anyone else hear this, or read it? It was reported on the radio today.

Sounds like some people are interested in starting something over this.

I heard the government wasn't allowing public memorials because of some law against gathering in public.

Yes, it was reported in the JoongAng Daily that wreaths sent by 2MB and former president Chun Doo Hwan (despite the fact he publicly states he has no money;-) were trampled and burned by Roh's supporters.

Also I read somewhere that 2MB is sending another one. He is determined to pay his respects!

I have no idea where you got this from, and to my knowledge there is no such law in Korea. There were/are a ton of people gathered around Deoksugung (City Hall) this afternoon. There are memorials going up in many locations around the country.

In fact, the goverment, with permission of Roh's family, anounced 7 days of mourning as it would be a "public funeral."
