Hey all,
So I just learned about the whole thing where, if you have "any" violation against immigration, you have to go back to your home country any time you want an E2.
Thing is, I'm going to Japan in 2 days for a C4. So is it effected?
Story, if you care: I overstayed by 3...4 days last year because my girlfriend had to go to the hospital. I go to the airport on my way to Thailand, and the immi officer freaks out, reminds me that I've overstayed. He asks if I have any plans to come back to Korea, and I say no (which was true at the time). He simply takes my ARC, stamps my visa as "used" and sends me on my way. No fine, no explanation of the implications, etc.
Now, fast forward 5 months and I come back to Korea. There was a "delay" getting my visa because of the blackmark, and they make me do an interview, but they told me it was because of the new regulations with the criminal back ground check, not because I'd have to do it EVERY SINGLE TIME.
That said, is it possible at all to go to immi and get this bull--it reversed or expunged? Regardless of the mistakes that I made, if the guy didn't fine me and didn't explain anything, who's fault is that, especially if the law came into effect after I left. |
