I am also a dual citizen (UK and South Africa). I left the UK when I was 15 years old. Came to Korea on my British passport when I was 30.

Last year I tried to get a CRC from the UK only to be told that because I had left the UK so many years ago, I would not be able to get one.....bloody ridiculous....anyway.....

I queried this with Immigration and they said it would not be a problem to submit my SA CRC.

Great.....getting the SA CRC was not that bad even with the added Apostle Seal.

I went back to Immi with my SA CRC ONLY to be told that I would now need a British CRC as well or a letter from the Britsh Authorities stating that I had left the UK at age 15 and no CRC could be issued.

Apparently what was accepted at Korean Immi a month ago, was not accepted now.

Getting my British CRC was a nightmare. My mother had to personally attest to my birth certificate to get the CRC from the UK. It took just under 3 months to get.

Bottom line....I had to do DOUBLE the amount of work to satisfy Immigration.
