|
|
Hello...I'm going to be in Seoul for a day or two before heading back to Canada and I was wondering where the best (cheapest) place to buy ceramics is? (Itaewon, Namdaemun market???)
Just a couple points:
1. I know Insadong is probably the best but it's too expensive for me and it will only be my last resort.
2. I can't go to Icheon...I don't have the time...plane's to catch, etc.
Thanks for your help. |

i would try namdaemun if you absolutely can't get to icheon.....but if you have the time, to to icheon. the ceramics are beautiful, and such a variety! it's only a 50min to an hour bus ride from gangnam...... |

I know Icheon is beautiful...I've been there I only have a part of a night and about 3 hours the next day before my plane leaves. Where in Namdaemun market? Is there a lot of variety? Thanks for the reply |

I haven't seen ceramics at Namdaemoon, and I've been there many times....however I'm never looking for it, so maybe that's why I'm not seeing it? Namdaemoon tends to have lots of clothes....plus it's closed on Sundays

I was in Namdemun today; it was not closed. There were some shops with their garage doors down, but there was sufficient crazy crap going on so that I can say with all confidence that it was, indeed, open. And there were about six or seven places with ceramics. And one place with baby eels, though nobody asked about that. |

ya, there's several souvenir shops in namdaemun that sell ceramics. hyeon station, light blue line. also, if you're really short on time, there's a korea national tourism store in myeong dong that sells everything from ceramics to laquer boxes to jewelry....everything actually. it's great for quick one-stop shopping. just ask tourist info where it is. |

As a resident of Icheon, I can not condone purchasing inferior ceramics from any other city. |

ryleeys, i think a lot of the ceramics from other cities, especially seoul, are from icheon! just more expensive. but you're right, icheon is worth it, for the huge variety. |

Argh! Those Koreans are fibbing again....my friends told me it was closed on Sundays and one time I went and it was closed. It must have been a holiday I didn't know about. Sorry! JLB, you are gone now anyway. I hope you found something nice to take home!
