Can anyone suggest a nice escape from Seoul for a night? I'm looking at going to a small coastal town where I can sleep in a comfortable place by the beach and vegetate without hordes of people. No more than 1.5 hours away from Seoul.

Alternatively anyone know any good hotel deals running at the moment in Seoul? with a nice swimming pool?

1.5 hours out of Seoul will not get you very far, unfortunately. I have yet to find a nice quiet spot nearby Seoul without the hoards of people, and on a weekend you'll be hard pressed to find anything peaceful.

However, I did also need a night away from the hoards and decided to spend a night in a hotel. I think I found the best thing for a decent price.

Do a search for the Novotel Hotel Doksan in Seoul. It's possible to get there by public transport and is a 2,000won cab ride from Guro Digital Complex.

I think it is more quiet here cuz Guro is a strange location for a hotel, and the area isn't so great, although there is a Homeplus and movie theater across the street.

The best part: It has a swimming pool, hot tub, sauna and workout area...and they were all clean and QUIET! I think we saw maybe 3 or 4 other people in the pool the entire time we were there!

I suggest calling to make sure it still has everything since it's been a while since I stayed there. I just did a search and found a site that offered a room for $64 US. Not bad for peace and quiet and a pool.
