I'm a NZ/UK dual citizen who has worked in SK for 6 years on both my Kiwi and British passports (mostly on my UK passport)

I've just been told by my future employer that the immigration office has just told him that I need to submit CRCs from both countries. Isn't this bloody ridiculous? It turned out that my CRC check from NZ was process and sent in record time, to full credit to the New Zealand bureaucrats, but now I'm worried that the UK check is going to take ages.

Man, I'd really like to slap a few Korean politicians and bureaucrats in the face. Mad

General advice I have heard about dual citizenship and Visa. Use ONLY ONE for your visa. Keep the other one secret. So if you apply with your Kiwi passport submit a kiwi CRC. Also, try and use the passport where you went to school. It sounds like your opened your mouth and said you had two passports.

I wish I could have kept the officials thinking I have only one citizenship, but I've worked in Korea for years and it's all on record now. Back before they introduced all this CRC b.s. using different passports didn't matter and I used different passports depending on where I'd flown in from.

The most annoying thing is that even though the Korean immigration office has 6 years of record of my presence in Korea, I bet I'll still have to jump through all the same hoops next time I arrange an E2 visa.

I have 3 passports....never, ever let the authorities know you have more than one....not only does it confuse the K's, it can cause a shite load of problems...

As I'm finding out Confused . Funnily enough, the first time I worked in Korea, on my NZ passport, I decided that I'd never use my UK passport in order to have a recordless, back up passport if I ever tried to get a job in Korea after a midnight run. The next I was in Korea however, they were introducing the pension programme at the time so I chose to use my UK passport, believing that the UK government would conclude a reciprocal pension agreement with Korea well before NZ would. If only I had forseen the coming of the CRC policy - my UK passport would have stayed tucked away in my bag.
