I was set on going to the Philippines (Boracay and Palawan) in July for about 1 month but the more I read about the weather the more I'm worrying that it will be a washout. I would hate it to go somewhere tropical and have miserable weather everyday.

Where are the best places to be in Asia in July/August?

South of the Equator for tropical beach or in a northern temperate climate preferably not in Asia as to avoid monsoon season rains. Bali looks to be the nicest July/August Asia vacation spot. It's ultimate tropical island and the weather is super nice. I want to go! I'd pick Bali, Fiji, or other Southern Pacific Island over a tropical place north of the Equator in July or August due to muggy hot rainy weather. This costs more money though.

Been to Bali so I would probably prefer something else. Perhaps Java though. I'm considering Malaysian Borneo as the weather is supposed to be OK in July. I really haven't done any research on it yet so no idea if there is plenty to do for 5 weeks.

Hi there

Why don't you consider Samal Island near Davao. I heard that Davao is below the typhoon belt. When I was there it felt safer than other cities in the Philippines (even though it is in Mindanao)

Anyway about Samal Island. This is very close to Davao. There is a beach there at "Pearl farm" resort. I didn't check out too much of this small island but maybe some other posters have.
