Has anybody seen natto at any stores? I'd preferably like individual container type things because I'm going to give a few away as a gift, but will also be eating them. If there is a Japanese food store in Itaewon or something that would be great.
If you don't know natto by name, it is the fermented sticky soybean product popular in Japan around Tokyo. It is also called Thua-nao and eaten in Northern Thailand. |

are we talking about the nasty tastes like shit rolled in rice 'natto'? cause i don't know why you would want it.
otherwise, i'd check out some of the supermarkets in the back of namdaemun, i've found some rarer (for korea) foodstuffs back there including chinese black bean sauce, japanese-style miso, european cheeses and american-market candy. |

I've seen it at a few E-Marts. Tried it once, first and last time. |

I got some at E-mart too. Maybe they sell it at all of their stores but I got it at the one by Miasamgeori Station on line 4 (sky blue) in northern Seoul.
It was in the refrigerated section where the tofu is kept. They sell them in packages of 6. It was my first time trying it too...so sticky and tasteless. My Korean friends thought it was gross too. |
