Looking at job ads I saw this one is asking for a lot of documentation, including proof of employment , a medical examination, and a criminal record. (I do hope they mean "a clean criminal record!")
So what exactly do they mean by these things and how do you get them? (I am talking about from home, but info on how to acquire from in Korea would be interesting, as well.)
Do they mean proof of present employment, or of the whole five years teaching experience they ask for with certain qualifications? What could you use as proof of employment for a previous employer you're no longer in contact with, or a present employer you haven't yet told you are thinking of leaving?
I think the medical examination is fairly simple to do...would a standard American "Physical for Employment or School" form do the trick? The last one I got said that I didn't have TB, could lift things, and had 20/200 vision without my glassses and 20/20 with!
Can you just walk into the local police station and ask for a copy of your own criminal record?
Thanks for your ideas. |

OiGirl- A criminal record background check comes from where you have lived and worked, often in your home country. The schoolboards here in Canada require this document before you can work for them. You can contact the police where you lived and worked in your home country and ask the procedure for getting a criminal record background check. There can be a fee for it.
You can contact KNUE and ask them if they want a criminal reference check for each country you have worked in. They probably basically mean from your home country.
In my experience, "proof of employment" is a brief statement from a schoolboard or a school stating the dates you have worked there and what age level or type of teaching work you did. It usually needs to be on paper with an official seal or letterhead. I believe it is more of an Asian standard document, so you can explain to your schoolboard/school what is required. I have done this in the past.
For medical, KNUE will either have their own medical form they want filled out or else you can get a dorctor to write a note that you're in good health. The form you mentioned is probably fine unless KNUE specifially wants a form of their own to be filled out.
Good luck. |
