By my count, two-thirds of the Michael Jackson threads have been started by the same people who are complaining that there is too much discussion about Michael Jackson. |

As Garfield once said, "I resemble that remark." Look, bruddah, you make it seem like the forum has spawned a myriad of threads on MJ. I've posted two of three which makes two-thirds. But my concerns reach well beyond the entertainer himself and cast a light on contemporary life.
The main reason MJ's accomplishments as an entertainer, which are indisputable, cannot easily be discerned from his personal life is that the Self-Appointed Black Leadership is in full gear trying to prevent this from happening.
Reverend Al Sharpton, in his "eulogy," at the Staples Center had the temerity to claim to MJ's kids that "your father never did anything strange." Aside from the sheer hyperbole it speaks to a defensive need among many in the Black community to whitewash (no pun intended) MJ's legacy. Both Sharpton and a host of others have described Jackson as an "icon in the African American community," which is laughable. Like OJ, he spent a considerable amount of his time circulating among non-Blacks, tried to alter his appearance to erase his Negroid features, and paid for children whose parents aren't Black.
Now at the very least that is bizarre, if not self-loathing.
On O'Reilly Factor yesterday, Sharpton avoided the head-on question, not surprisingly, and accused MJ's detractors of being racially motivated. Oh, sure, right. This is the same guy who years ago falsely accused White NYC police officers of raping Tawana Brawley and after they were exonerated didn't even have the decency to directly confront his sham accusations or apologize to their families.
And where does it come from, this sense of entitlement? From decades of White liberal enablers letting people like Jesse and Al say almost anything they want without fear of real retribution. The double standard coupled with sheer egotistical scale of MJ bordering on narcissism and the Hollywood hype machine insured this media outcome.
And you can bet your sweet ass, bruddahs, that if a White performer had slept with Black boys, even innocuously, and "fathered" Black children the Black leadership would be crucifying him right now. And that's what galls me the most: not the hype but the utter hypocrisy of this idol worship. |

Yes, it does boggle the mind to figure out why people insist on taking part in a discussion about something if they do not want to.
Do you see me complaining about all the atheism threads, for example? No, I don't take part in the discussions, I just skip over them. It is not that hard. |
