|
|
Im compiling a list of things to buy in Korea before I return to Australia. Things I am most satisfied with are things I cannot buy back home or are very cheap. If you guys have anything to add to the list, please let me know =)
1. Electronic Door Lock (amazing design and they dont sell those back in AUS)
2. Clothes (everyone knows about clothes shopping in Korea). Have some super unique looking stuff including costumes and ofcourse Traditional clothes.
3. Laptop (got one of those tiny ones)
4. Electronics (16GB USB stick for 50 000won bargain)
Thats all i can think of now but ill add more to the list as i buy em.
Again please let me know of your best deals and unique stuff you have bought to take back home.
Cheers |

Very intelligent choices. Mine was German and Belgium beer. Yes, just ol' beer to drink my lonely night away in fear the world is going to come to a crash. What BS times. I'd have to say I really like those embroidered Bamboo Cay tropical men's Hawaiin button shirts with palm trees a Korean man sells in his shop in Itaewon past McDonald's going toward the US Army garrison on the same side of the street. Korea makes these high quality expensive shirts for export to Hawaii, but sells some in a small shop here for 1/3 the retail Hawaii price.
Wait...

Internet service....
No wait...

I bought the idea to learn about another culture, especially one of the strangest and least understood cultures of the world where the ol' cold war still rages on just outside my Korean window as military jets incessantly fly over head on an hourly basis with threats of war and the truce abandoned as of today. Just sweet and lovely. I'm lovin' it in the land of milk, honey, and kimchee. |

1. Value-packs of boneless chicken breasts at Costco
2. Cinammon rolls at Costco (not great but ok and cheap enough)
3. Double packs of Special K rice/wheat cereal with freeze dried strawberries, also at Costco
4. Smoked Alaskan red sockeye salmon, also at Costco
5. Dole fresh sliced Hawaiian tropical fruits in plastic jars at...Costco |

I checked the prices out. What I found was that here in Korea, an LG or Samsung go for 800,000 won. In Canada I can get a Dell, Toshiba or another brand that I can't remember offhand, for $400 Candian. That to me is the better deal. I don't need a bunch of the bells and whistles. Just word processing, surfing at a quick speed (but bandwidth has more to do with that than just RAM)
What I can't believe is how much stuff I have accumulated over 7 years (wife and son included) and now I have to get a shipping company to send it all home. I have done the math, it is better for me to send it all home, rather than sell at a discounted price and then rebuy. |

It's $100 if you are buying your flash drives from Tiffany's. Otherwise, a 16gb flash drive is $26 from newegg.com shipped free. |

| If you're into buying household goods like dishes, china, silverware, etc. Dongdaemun underground has a lot of discounted stuff with great designs you don't find anywhere else. |
