In light of the recent events with North Korea: Is there a certain event that will trigger your plan to leave the country? Is it right now? If bombs start falling? Never?
Just curious. Maybe I'll run a poll. |

When the military *US* families start to leave in droves, that's your cue. |

when your school tells you your class has to start doing these drills:

it is like the 1950s when schools made classes get under their desk for a nuke drill
such a farce...if a nuke was dropped nothing would be left
think about that ticket outta there |

You bet as a civilian foreign English teacher employed by the Koreans, you'll be last on the list of priorities for your country diplomatic mission to evacuate in the event of a national disaster or if the country literally shuts down due to a tragic event such as Seoul being bombed. I'm not comfortable and am leaving soon; not just becuase of war threat, but I don't enjoy living in Korean culture all by myself. Even before it became clear this week that war is in the air, I didn't think it was worth living in Korea for $1500 bucks a month. I'll be happy to do it for 2 or 3 years for $50,000 or more a year. |

If either one of my embassies (I'm a dual citizen) issued a warning to leave, then I would. Or, if the US military starts pulling families out of Korea, then I'd leave.
Other than that, I'm holding out hope that nothing happens between now and July 29th. I'm finished and on a plane that day, so I'll keep a finger crossed that things don't escalate between now and then. |

Yep, I've sent my money home - and hidden all my best fishing gear under my bed. I don't want those nasty Norks getting my favourite spinners while I'm out of the country waiting for the mushroom cloud to drift away. |

Packed my emergency getaway bag yesterday. Yes, maybe I'm crazy, but I'll be prepared to get out of here if something happens. We'll head South to the mother-in-law's home in Busan. I don't expect the US military will be able to get people out of here from the stadiums in any length of time. |

When North Koreans actually break the border or actual ground mobilization occurs.
All this talk is like China and Taiwan talks with them throwing missles into nowhere and ultimately it becomes just tariffs and tax import wars on the economic scenes.
But if troops or real missles get launched you bet your ass everyones headed for the hills.
The problem I see is that almost all foreigners (with the exception of me and Ezewong) will be trying to jump a plane and I don't think it's realistic of me to think I'm going to beat all the foreigners and SK's that are flocking out of the country.
It's gonna be crowded and pure chaos at the airports or any type of transportation route. People will be biting fighting and killing to get out.
I don't like those situations... It's like Steven King "Mist" situation. |

I am, too - which is quite easy to say given where I live.
It's a bit like saying I'll take on Jose Conseco after he's had 15 minutes in the ring with CHM. |

I think if it comes to that, it may do just as much good to kick back and enjoy the show because I won't be going anywhere. Not only the airports, but just the thought of trying to get a bus or train in the madness to even get to a better location within Korea seems fruitless. |
