My coteacher had a look of horror on her face when I said that I planned to go to these places at the weekend. I said I wouldn't go - I was only joking and then she seemed reassured.
Is there any merit to the idea that we are more exposed and vulnerable to the disease if we go to these places? Are you avoiding them?
I am actually planning on going to both this weekend. |

While I won't be avoiding those places in general, don't expect idle chat from me if you're coughing, have a fever and are complaining about body pains.

No, there's no merit to your co-teacher's fears. Do viruses only exist in certain areas now, unable to spread outside? Let's say you live in, oh, Cheonho. There must be at least a few students from Cheonho that attend classes at Hongdae. If any of them caught it, they'd bring it to your neighborhood without you venturing outside the area.
This hypothetical situation is assuming two things: no one else besides students go to Hongdae (many non-students go there for shopping, nightlife, etc.) and that you don't leave your area (you could run into people who've just come from Hongdae anywhere you go).
No, it's absurd to say that you should avoild a whole district of a city because of a virus- if the virus is here, it's going to spread unless around the city unless some part of it is sealed off.
I'm going to Itaewon for Indian food this weekend. And I won't give swine flu a moment's thought. |

Yes, I am avoiding them because foreign people carry disease and everybody there will have it. Jesus, come on.
Actually, I feel achy.
I'm a bit warm.
Heavy cough.
If I'm going down, I'm taking u=you ALL with me. |
