The Korean Baseball Association has made a sparkling announcement today.

All foreign players on the 8 domestic teams now have blood tests.

The article I read stated 'foreign players.' I happen to know Korean players do not test.

Sparkling!!!

Oh yeah. That casual racism.....

I'm beginning to suspect that a lot of Koreans, who were happy to follow the governments aim of the last 10 or so years to make Korea a global country, are now realizing what being a global country could mean.......it means that foreigners could come and live and work in Korea!! Shocked And Koreans would have to mix with them!! Even dark-skinned ones!!! Double-shock!!

Which I think isn't what they imagined at all. I reckon Koreans thought being global meant that Korea would be famous around the world and people would look up to them wherever they went. I think they thought being global meant they would have lots of smiling white tourists coming here and gushing about how great the food is and how wonderful all things Korean are......

.......The truth is, when a country opens up, foreigners, all types of foreigners, will come to your country to live. 365 days a year. With their different ways and different values. And it doesn't always work out the way the host country thought it would.

So far, I'd say Koreans haven't reacted very well to that. The OP is more evidence.

They'll never get it. They only tolerate a foreign presence on the Motherland because it suits their own needs (i.e. someone's making $$$ off of us). They'll always find of ways of limiting our presence/power here. For instance, they've a neat little idea of installing a system of glass ceilings that force foreign residents who teach at public schools to change jobs every year or two to "keep salaries competitive." That from the Minister of Education. Bright guy, that minister.

The KBO introduced doping tests for domestic players in 2007 but exempted foreign athletes who strongly refused to be the target of the drug screening. There are 16 foreign players in eight clubs in Korea's professional baseball league.

That is from the article, you really should read it all. How did they catch the Korean ball players for drugs to avoid military service a few years ago if there wasn't testing? You are overreacting.

I was informed that they do not test. Many of the coaches supported all players to be tested, but until now, it hasn't been done.

I know for sure the ones who went to the Olympics had to test. That's a special case.

Having read that article, was wondering why I had not heard anything about Rios for the past year or so in Japan. Now, I know!

If Korean players in the KBO were tested, all they'd find would be kimchi, kimchi, soju, samgyupsal, and more kimchi!

Racism or not, will someone, preferably Korean, answer this question........

I think we all can agree to some extent that Koreans don't like foreigners in their country. Why then do Koreans immigrate in droves to places like the US, Philippines, Guam, Canada, etc? So it's ok for Koreans to go wherever they want but nobody from those respective destinations are welcome in Korea?

As far as I am concerned, if Koreans do in fact have that attitude they can get the heck out of the US.

Yeah, because there's certainly no racism or hostility towards foreigners in the U.S.

Yet you still didn't answer my question. At least foreigners, even illegal aliens, can get things like a cell phone, an international bank card, and even own homes and businesses with relative ease in the highly foreigner unfriendly US.

Now, once again.......why do Koreans colonize pretty much every country in the world yet hate it when foreigners reside in their holyland? It's a valid question.

I would guess that the Koreans colonizing the world are mostly not the same Koreans as those who hate foreigners living in Korea. This is nearly 50 million people you're lumping under the same umbrella.

Things aren't perfect here for foreigners for sure, but immigration to Korea is a relatively new thing. The U.S. is made up almost entirely of immigrants. Give them a few years.

Yeah, in America they befriend the locals and avoid forming cliques and isolated communities!

Correction:

Korean players DO test. It is coming out now that several Korean players in the past have failed steroid tests, but it was covered up.

It might come out, but more than likely, it'll get and stay swept under the carpet, sort of like the Japanese collaberators.
