|
|
The last time I went to Korea I got involved with a horrible school who was not able to keep their end of the contract (could not provide me with the promised E2 visa or salary).
After many efforts of trying to explain my illegal work to Korean Immigration I have been turned away with no answers.
Does anyone know the length of probation period for working illegally? Will I ever be able to get an E2 visa again? |

No one here will be able to answer your question because immigration has no consistant policy regarding your situation.
The only thing I can suggest is apply for a job that looks promising and wait and see what immigration does. Don't bring up the past employment situation unless asked. Who knows? You might get lucky. |

Get a new passport and do what was suggested above. I also recommend applying in a different province. Don't advertise that you taught in Korea before at all unless you actually had an E2 visa.
However, as stated above, only immigration would know. |

thanks for the suggestions.
i appreciate it.
however, getting a new passport wouldn't help. and i can't hide my previous employment from immigration my passport number and name are in their system. i've tried getting a new job.... and the school had connections and everything and nothing happened.
i just wanted to see if anyone knew of the time limit... because no immigration officer i know knows either.
crazy.
but thanks again! |

Try for the EPIK program in a different province where you worked before. Do not mention your previous employment as it is not relevant to EPIK only immigration. At least you would know where you stand after the application process. It may make a difference. |

When you get a new passport you get a new number. So that may help. At least I did.
But really, what is so special about teaching in Korea. Certainly it's not worth getting around the obstacles that many are faced with. |

let's just say korea has a special place in my heart. it's more than a job to me... i love that country! as crazy/corny as that may sound. i know how many foreigners feel about korea... especially if they get screwed over like i did.... but i like to focus on the positives of korea.
i am currently getting things in order so i can teach in another country.... but i was just wondering if anyone knew the length of the probation period.
and i'm pretty sure you keep the same number when you get a new passport, at least we americans do and if not it doesn't matter because my name and birth date are the same and immigration has all that in my file.
so i am giving up for now
thanks again! |
