|

So, from the way things are going I've got about another month to two months before I ship out for Seoul. What I'm wondering is this: Travel Health Insurance, I know it's worth it etc, just to be on the safe side. My question is where can I get decent coverage for a decent price, without having prior health insurance?
Any Help? |

This is going to be an issue for me too. I'm guessing that my insurance in Korea won't take effect until my first day on the job. Which will be after the EPIK orientation.
There will be about 2 weeks from my last day on the job in the U.S. and the first actual day of teaching. So I can either COBRA my current insurance or get the travel insurance to cover me while in orientation.
Thoughts? |

This is the company that I use...other folks in Korea have recommended it...you can choose basic health or a myriad of other add-ons.
www.worldnomads.com/
It runs about $50 USD for three weeks (based on numerous factors)...you can always extend and will receive an email a few days before your coverage ends asking if you want to extend the coverage. The entire process online takes about 5 minutes and then you can print out your coverage certificate.

I did a podcast on this some time ago. I talked to an AIG insurance agent in Seoul. She said it's a better deal to get travel insurance from an agent in your own country. She can also sell it to you here, but she doesn't make much money off of it, and if memory serves, it may cost you more here.
So talk to a health/auto/life insurance place back home and they'll know. Shop around. |
