So I live in Dongducheon area, north of seoul, what I learned can't be termed as "the sticks". I''ve been here less then 2 weeks and I'm going a little batty by the lack of other teachers to socialize with as I work in a public school and I'm the only teacher here.

So my main question is this, how do I find and meet other teachers?

Any suggestions?

I have heard that there are quite a few teachers in Dongducheon, I don't live there but live over the mountain and occasionally head over to eat at Subway or get a burger at Marty's (which is phenomenal)....head down to the area near Bosan station, next to the army base....surely you will meet some teachers out there mixed in amongst the soldiers. There is a bar called ONO that was quite busy when I went there. My guess is that it will take some time to make "friends" per se, but you will certainly meet a lot of foreigners down there.

It is harder to make friends in the smaller towns near to Seoul because most young people head into the city on the weekends....small towns further out in the countryside tend to have more of a teacher community that hangs out together.
