What happened to AskJeeves.com, the internet butler?

Remember the internet butler? I do and it was a good search engine years back, but now it's just ask.com which hijacks browsers. They also have a self installing toolbar that's often included in many free download software, but got rid of that.

When I'm shopping Gmarket and looking at an item, it always goes to ask.com automatically after 10 seconds. I've blocked ask.com in my IE options, but that doesn't stop it from coming up on its' own.
This is quite annoying to say the least.

It went the same way of all English browsers that don't start with a G and end with an oogle.
