I have a desktop computer that I would like to take back to Canada.
the problem is that it weighs a tonne.
is it possible to find a plastic lightweight computer case here?
the one I have now is solid steel and heavy! |

An aluminum case is what you want- light, dissipates heat better than steel, and looks cool. Throw everything into an aluminum case and ditch the power supply and it'll be light as a feather. |

Bulsajo's advice, as always, is sound, but here's another option:
Take the components out of the case. Leave the case and power supply here to die. Wrap the hard drive *well* in bubble wrap (or, failing that, socks & underwear) and bring it in the carry-on. Pack the other components in the checked luggage. Shouldn't take up much space at all. Then buy a new case once back home for less than $40 Cdn, and put everything back in. A local computer store would probably do that for you for a small fee if you don't feel up to it.
Sure beats carrying the big case and power supply with you. |

Can't you just take the harddrive and buy a new case in Canada? |
