Hello everybody,

My employer has given me the blessing (ie they will give me good references) as per looking for new jobs. As I have posted before, I was "let go" from a preschool position recently, because-- as it seems--- one influential mom has been complaining. Twisted Evil I just can never live up to the teacher I replaced, who actually left this institution screaming last winter...

Anyway, I put my resume up on SeriousTeachers.com, and have already been getting the offers!

I got one for a public school, that wants me to start on August 1st. That's ok, but I was wondering: why would a public elementary school want a person to start on that particular date? Isn't that vacation time? (I know, it's also camp time...)

I would prefer to start in September (I kind of sort of want to go to Canada for a short visit), but do you think there's anything particularily unusual about staring Aug 1st? Is it any sort of a bad sign? I would just hate to give up my little trip home, to find myself in a bad situation...

Thank you for your patience. I just want to be very careful about the next job I commit to.

I

that is indeed a strange starting time, but perhaps they've had a native teacher pull a runner or their contract expired just then.

why not ask the school in a polite manner why that starting date considering the school will almost surely be closed for summer vacation?
