I'm going to China in July for 8 days. I fly into Shanghai and fly out of Beijing. I want to take the train from Shanghai to Xian and then from Xian to Beijing. I want the cheapest train tickets, I heard that's the hard sleeper. Does anyone know the price of these train tickets or know where I can find them? Thanks a lot. |

I'm in a good mood so I'll offer a few comments.
Cheapest class is hard SEAT and I don' think you want that.It will be crammed with people and garbage everywhere---not good on long hauls. Did it once and stayed in the bar car all night.
Soft seat is excellent and of course soft sleeper is tops. You can also trade up on the way. Hard sleeper is pretty good but can be crowded (you have your own bunk though.)
Trains are terrific in China but are you aware of times? I'd have to look it up but I'm guessing 1.5 days SHA-Xian and 1 day from Xian-BEI. The extra money would be well spent on better classes (assuming they are evn available.) |
