So this week is a music lesson for my 2nd graders (high school) and since my original youtube video was inexplicably deleted, I scurried around to find a replacement. Didn't watch the entire thing. Stupid move.

Playing the video for the kids, everything is going well and then OMG one of those screaming faces pops up and scares the hell out of everyone including the co-teacher and myself. The kids all scream and I scream and we all scream together and there are tears and sadness all around.

I apologized profusely and told them I didn't know it was going to do that...I really hope they believe me. Poor kids...

That's hilarious! I purposefully played one of those screamy videos on April Fools' Day. I made a 2nd grader cry. Evil or Very Mad

rationality states:I had a similar experience a couple years back, but probably it wasn't as bad as yours. I wanted to show a video on animals, and wouldn't you know, some dam fool splices in a scene where a guy is humping a dam cow! God, did I feel foolish for not first checking the whole video out.

Both stories are fantastic. Rationality, I just don't see the students watching a human banging a cow being better than a guy popping up and scaring everyone. On the "have to explain" scale, your pretty much all done. Good stuff though!!

Yes, you gotta be careful. I thought I had a good ABC's video, but find the H is missing. Crying or Very sad Not only do you have to be careful with Youtube, but with legitimate curriculum and teaching materials as I'm noticing many many obvious dumb mistakes that get past publishers. It's like they don't care enough to do a good job which only requires a little attention to detail when it comes to elementary material.

Humping a cow by surprise? That would be so awefully embarassing. Be careful with those internet searches you do during class to bring up a picture or video of something when you find the students need a visual demonstration of vocabulary as sex related stuff comes up too easily.

I almost did the same dumb thing.. It was almost the end of the term last year and I gathered some cutesy videos for my 3rd/4th graders.. "Funny Animals" (pretty silly stuff.. pretty juvenile mostly)... One I didn't watch to the end... There was a scene with a donkey trying to hump a guy with his pants down... OMG I was SOOO embarrassed.. It was a quick scene and by the time I jumped up too fast forward..it was over.. Luckily I never heard anything more about it... from angry parents or whoever...whew... Real real dumb thing on my part that shan't happen again!

A few months back a poster posted about how he had some Japanese porn on his IPOD. He was searching for the class lesson but he accidently clicked on the porn. The whole class heard it as she was screaming "stop stop stop" in Japanese.

I don't know this story just reminded me of that.

If anyone can dig that story up, it's quite hilarious.

So don't feel bad. at least you didn't show porn in classsssss

Once I showed my students a youtube vid on drawing.

First thing the guy makes is a big ole schlong dong and then he quickly turns it into an old man's face (kind of a fast-forward vid). I put that to a close and they drew their own (non-phallic) portrait drawings Confused whew!

In grade 4, Korean co-teacher tells me we're gonna learn a song, "What a wonderful world" with a video I hadn't seen. I say OK. We watch it, and it's with a collage of clips from Vietnam. They show graphic violence, rape, people half-burned to death... need I go on.

Naturally she's letting it play on with that big 'ol "huh?" Korean stare while my jaw has dropped. That is before I switch the TV off. Why did she play it? "It was recommended by another teacher."

I know kids are exposed to that stuff on TV and PC games anyway, but it still shocks me it's showed at school. Maybe I'm getting old.

Suffice to say she aint my favorite co-teacher Wink
