Latest news reports indicate North Korea has moved a Taepodong 2 missile to a launch site in the Northwest, 40 miles from the Chinese city of dandong. Furthermore, SoKo intel indicates that military bases on the west coast of North Korea are vastly increasing their ammunitiion stocks, and a increased pace of activities at military bases has been seen.

I wonder what it means? Maybe North Korea is expecting us to try knocking out the missile, and thus is readying for an air assault?

And here we go again this week with new provocative developments from the dorky NORKS. I was thinking this morning, "I'm sure now that it's a new week, they're will be more news on this issue." Sure enough so.

Well it's obvious moving their special missile close to China on the West coast, it's not intended for tests like all the previous missiles fired off the East coast. It probably is armed with some sort of warhead, probably chemical or biological, since they're setting it up for launch. I believe the North is foolish enough to self destruct by starting a war with the intent China will back them up, becuase the dying Kim Jong-Il thinks they have little to lose and more to gain by misbehaving. It's clear South Korea is not going to keep paying the screaming cry baby, it's other half, to keep it quiet as it's tired of buying the same thing again and again with worsening results.

Leaders are having talks on to proceed on this difficult complex situation. What makes it complex is you can't just fight North Korea without China getting upset and maybe declaring war on South Korea and the US. It's dicey, but they're talking with China on to proceed in the event an attack occurs against S. Korea or the US. It's obvious things are beginning to escalate to a possible engagement.

The World's 6th largest populated and modern city half destroyed by a shitty rocket. Great headline.

What the western press isn't telling you and what most Koreans are quite aware of.....is that all this sabre-rattling is a scheduled event to honour Kim Il Sung. the 15th anniversary of his death is on July 8th. They are not trying to start a war, they just want to mark the occasion by showing they are still strong. Testing a missile is equivalent to breaking open a bottle of champagne to them.

Im not talking about the missile test. Im talking about why they are doubling stockpiling ammunition and why the military activity at those bases hasnincreased.

Of the adult Koreans polled last night during their English class on whether or not they are worried about the latest threats from the north: 1) The eldest male spoke of not being worried because the NKs are their brothers.
2) Two of the eldest women stated that they were not in any way nervous.
3) Six women would not speak about their feelings.
4) Then, the youngest woman spoke up saying that she was scared and was worried about dying.

You could cut the tension with a knife so we ended the discussion and moved on to other topics. We are in Gangwon-do about 300 miles from NK. To answer the OP's question...the increased threat is now equating to more stress in the minds of everyday South Koreans where I live. One reason we asked the question of our adult learners was to put some numbers behind our hypothesis.

I'm still, carefully, sorting through whatever current factual and historical evidence I can find regarding the situation and have not decided on leaving (as of today). What will happen on the 16th as SK meets in Washington with Obama...remains to be seen.
