If your interested UNRWAR is always looking for teachers in the Palestinian camps. No teaching experience required and positions vary from English to History. Reasonable pay but, getting used to the camp life is going to be hard to deal with. Their lot in life isn't pretty.

There's another discussion forum for the Middle East. You can get some ideas if you go there.

I've worked in the UAE before. My best advice is before going brush up on your classroom management skills. Learning some basic Arabic would be good too. Unlike Korean students Emirates students don't have much respect for teachers particularly foreign teachers, If you are placed in a technical school you'll notice that the majority of teacher are from other gulf countries like Jordan and Egypt.

The students are generally likeable ar first. They live in an enviroment much like in Korea where corporal punishment is the norm. The students will most likely challenge your authority of the classroom once the honeymoon stage of your culture shock has faded this can be particularly stressful. Another problem is cheating which is rampant and the locals don't seem to look down upon it. If you are ment to proctor any exams you will have to be vigilent. Another problem is some of the biggest trouble makers in the schools are from families with strong political connections. So they quite literally get away with anything becouse their teachers are afraid of them. It is not unusual for a parent to call the local Sheik and complain about disciplinary actions taken against their kid. This can make matters pretty nasty for the teacher.

Some tips if you are a man grow a beard. This will just make you look more like a local.

If they ask you any question about anything that might be taboo in their country pretend you can't hear them. They will often ask questions of a dubious manner like . Do you like the Russian ladies in Dubai? this obviously connects to prostitution. They will also ask you if you drink alcohol or eat pork. Most of the time they are not doing it is a carefree fun kind of way. They are pokeing fun at you. They want to make your look foolish.

Just take the money and enjoy the long holiday time. If you are looking for a rewarding teaching enviroment go elsewhere.
