Okay,
I want to develop a great video presentation using clips from movies. What movies, recent movies, can you remember that had some great catastrophic scenes? This is what I can think of:
Terminator 3 - Nuclear explosion in the beginning and end of movie
The Day After Tomorrow - Great for natural disasters
What else can you think of? |

Not sure how recent you consider these but off the top of my head you could find at least one scene from each of these
Titanic
Army of Darkness
12 Monkeys
O'Brother Where Art Thou
Spinal Tap |

Pretty sure that's Deep Impact. Many many good and touching/devastating scenes.... good call.
Depending on what you are looking for, some of these may be helpful
Alien Devastation:
Independence Day
Titan A.E. (cartoon)
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (just a shot of the world blowing up)
War of the Worlds (Aliens frying people and harvesting them)
Monster Devastation:
Cloverfield (buildings being destroyed, lots of army peeps fighting a virtually indestructable monster)
Godzilla (crappy version with Ferris Beuller)
Natural Devastation:
Knowing (a scary ending but also some big accidents)
Poseidon (big wave flipping a ship over)
War Devastation:
Saving Private Ryan (D-Day, need I say more?)
Enemy at the Gates (some intense war fighting)
Pearl Harbour (same as above)
The Thin Red Line (same as above)
Platoon (same as above)
Children of Men (first person, long shot through a battle... almost real)
Outbreak (at the beginning) - not really war, but it's a bomb
Villian Devastation:
The Dark Knight (the hospital)
The 9/11 movie with Nick Cage
Sum of All Fears (nuclear bomb)
Next (nuclear bomb)
The first X-Files movie (at the beginning I think a building blows up)
Machine Devastation
The first two terminators (the 2nd has some freakishly scary atomic bomb scenes)
Some of these are probably too tame for what you're looking for, but I hope some of what I listed is helpful... |
