Hey, all. Okay, I just picked up an application from the EPIK office and I have a question about one of their document requirements. The list of what they need asks for is a sealed recommendation letter from a professor or former employer. I'm not sure how to get that. My professors at my university might not even remember me and I'm afraid if I ask my current employer, they'll either refuse to give me one or bad-mouth me for wanting to change jobs. I don't trust private hagwon directors. They're known for shafting teachers. The guy who runs my school has already tried to screw other teachers on their way out. That's part of the reason I want to change jobs. Why would I trust him to say good things about me when I'm leaving him and forcing him to find another teacher? Has anyone else made the jump from a private hagwon to the EPIK program before? Has anyone had problems getting a letter of recommendation? Thanks. |

How long have you been out of university? Didn't you have professor assigned to you as an advisor? I'd contact him or her and attach an electronic copy of your transcript to the e-mail. Just explain what your situation is and that you need a letter that essentially documents that you did go to that university and graduated, what your major was, and that you were reasonably capable. If the professor isn't a total beep, then you shouldn't have any problem getting a letter. |
