Pentaport is the one time a year when a decent band or two actually comes to Korea. There is an occasional band here and there at other times throughout the year, but overall the foreign concert scene blows in Korea.

Pentaport was supposed to have the Deftones, Weezer, and some other decent acts this year. Now there is a competing festival, the Jisan Resort Festival, the same weekend of July 24. Weezer and some other bands are now playing at the Jisan festival.

Organizers in Korea: What in the hell would you do that? 2 festivals is a great idea, but on the same weekend? Screw you.

I won't be paying money or supporting either festival now. They don't deserve anything for splitting up the acts and forcing people to choose one or the other in this land of lackluster music.

In case you weren't aware, Jisan is organised by a former organiser of Pentaport. Apparently they had a falling-out. Yeah, this will probably kill both festivals quickly.

there's no need to get upset about missing either of these concerts, in my opinion.

I think it will just kill pentaport. Their line up isn't half as good as Jisan's. Me and many of my friends already got out tickets for Jisan, nary a word in favor of pentaport.

its all bs pride. Jisan could have pushed theirs back a few weeks and got the acts from Summersonic, but instead they want to screw over Pentaport and they are both competing for acts from the Fuji Festival!

Both lineups suck but Jisan is still much better.

Eh, looks like Jisan got all but one of the real good ones (Deftones), screw pentaport. Jisan is closer to me anyway. I am real disappointed that no one has made a play though for all those acts from Summersonic, I'd like to see some of them play in Korea. Limp Bizkit can stay in Japan however. Looking at the prices for the Japanese festivals vs the price we are paying here Jisan looks like a steal

Not a huge fan but when I saw them in '99 (Significant Other tour) I was blown away by the energy they generated from/with the crowd. Fred Durst is a douche, but is also an incredible showman. I would pay to see them again.

It's not about the best lineup. It's about which one can attract enough people to make a profit. Having the two festivals makes it harder for both.

Fred Durst's showmanship could never win me over in a million years.

Rap meets rock needs to meet bullets fired from machine gun.

Knock 'em all you want, but they're a different animal live. There isn't a single LB track on my mp3 player, but I would drop the dime to experience their show again.

My source told me that Jisan and the Fuji Festival were working together on this to lower each others costs. Bringing the bands over to Asia costs a large sum of money, they will split these costs. Then the bands will bounce from one venue to the other.
