Whoah, Korean news just said that it was some "C" hakwon. Is the closure for the whole of the CDI chain schools, just the branch schools but not the franchise schools, or just the main branch?

Confirm? If so, that's a real kick in the pants to their business.

CDI guys - who's taking the orders strictly?

I am in the Bundang branch and we've been ordered and threatened to stay inside our apartment rooms and to not interact with anyone unless absolutely necessary. Since the orders came from the Center for Disease Control my husband is wanting us to follow them, but since we are far removed from contaminated people I want to ignore them. Friends in both branches and franchises are talking about just doing their thing.

My husband worries the police will start carding foreigners and we could be deported.

Apparently the masters classes training sessions downtown last week have people worried - they involved people who were contaminated and instructors from every branch and franchise in the nation. So sure, yeah, we saw people who saw people who saw people who were contaminated, but does it really spread that easily? Are those who follow orders prudes? Or are those who break them being idiots?

we were told not to travel to "busan or jeju," and also not to go to "hongdae." but we were not told to stay in our apartments or wear masks when outside or anything like that. our boss also told us if anyone gets a fever to call.

it seems there is no uniformity from branch to branch.

we had a new instructor arrive on friday night who had been at regular (not masters level) training. he came to the school, met everyone, and we all went to dinner. on saturday he was taken to the quarantine. he came into contact with most of the teachers, boss, and secretaries.

so if the teachers are forced to stay at home but the boss and secretaries are not, that will be really messed up.

I bet the monthly salaried workers have their pay docked too.

Still, if you work for CDI this will be the longest holiday you ever see!

I didn't know it was so serious? The whole swine flu thing? Hangovers make you susceptible to it so they said you can't go out?

If you work for CDI start your contingency plans started. The chain could very well go bankrupt from this. It doesn't matter if they reopen in a day or a week, the mothers are all going to vote with their feet and this chain is toast.

haha yes. also my friend in the april branch of our school was told specifically not to go to hongdae or itaewon. not gangnam, or myeongdong, or even "don't go to seoul."

not sure why. maybe they think those are the only places we go? or maybe because they think there could be more infected whities there?

Just say, "yeah, yeah.", then do what you want. Unless of course you are at risk for contamination.

Not going to happen. The police don't even do their job when someone complains...they're not about to start doing more work on their own initiative.

Just do your own thing if you are healthy.
