OK so been here 9 months and things have been going fairly well. About 2 weeks ago my buddy and I who work for the same company and shared a 2 bed room apartment were told we had to move in 6 days. We were annoyed about the short notice but what ever we got everything moves with the help of a few people from school. So now we have been in the new apartment for a week. The air conditioning is controlled by the building won't be on till July and my apartment is a hot box. The school is giving me the run around about buying me a fan. The contract does state a 2 bedroom apartment with air con. We also had to move into two studios vs our old 2 bedroom which we were ok with. Also, the school has not given my buddy a fridge, microwave or washing machine or hooked up my washing machine and once again its been a week. Should I give this a lil more time before I really start to kick up the dirt? Any one have any thoughts?

Thanks all,

Mike

Two disgruntled teachers are more powerful than one. Give it more time if you want (c'mon, no laundry for a week? and no air con yet?), but make sure your friend has the balls to stand up for himself as well. If you both decided you won't be teaching until these issues are addressed, there's not much the school can do.

They gave you a short notice to move without letting you see if the apartment was OK. You should give them an even shorter notice for them to fix things. You're in a better position than most to deal with this issue.

Its show up late for work time.

"why are you late?"

1) I have no washing machine, so I had to go top a dry cleaners.

2) *this is golden*
I have no air con, so I was talking to the korean landlord about it, He doesn't speak English-e and I don't speak the korean, so it took a lot of time. (this will get them to set it up ASAP, esp., if you do this two days in a row)).

3) You promised I could live with my boy friend in a two bedroom apt. Now I'm in a dive without my cuddle partner.... just kidding.

good luck.

Don't wash your clothes for a week and come to school smelling like a Korean street...

your welcome

If it's a hagwon with a strict dress wear policy, show up at work in street clothes. When they ask what's up say... no washing machine equals no clean clothes. Sorry!

The Avalon I worked at was shirt and tie only, dress pants. We did this with our new apartments and no washing machines!

We got our new apartment set up within the next day.

Go to your boss with much air-sucking (you know that hissing through the teeth thing they do when they're not happy, and shake their heads?) and explain that it's so difficult for you. Where you are from, you aren't used to living without airconditioning. This weather is so different, so you really can't endure without a fan.

Also, you really need a washer. It's so difficult for you. You are trying to help by moving to the new apartment, but now it's so hard because they didn't give you (what ever appliances you need).

Then the next day come with rumpled, and slightly dirty clothes.
The next day, wear the same rumpled, slightly dirtier clothes.

*** Or... start wearing clean, but ripped/stained clothes or sweats. Stuff you normally wouldn't wear to work *** Smile

Don't wear deodorant, and tell them that it's so hot in your house, you sweat so much even if you shower.

DOOOON'T try to get into a confrontation or demand your rights. Suck air. Shake your head "It's very difficult". Be passive agressive Smile
