Hello, everyone. I will be teaching at a university starting next year.

I am contemplating the idea of taking a Korean class there. Have any of you ever tried to do this? Were there any difficulties with regards to your own teaching schedules at the universities in question.

Also, I have been thinking about pursuing a second master's degree for sometime now. If this is possible to do while I am there as a "professor", then I will probably do so as a part time student at the same university in question. Have any of you ever attempted to be both a "professor" and student at the same university? If so, what were some of the difficulties that you faced?

As far as learning Korean while teaching at the university, I would assume that's completely normal.

Doing a Master degree simultaneously isn't the problem... it's finding an entire program taught in English without any Korean lectures.

I wanted to take another Master degree at my current university while teaching here, but I wasn't able to because the program had some classes taught in Korean.

I would assume lots of people are updating their education while being employed by their school... in my opinion that wouldn't be an issue. If you're willing to give up all your free time, then the university doesn't care. Smile

Some of our teachers do it. The most difficult aspect is coordinating your work schedule and class schedule. Usually, we have to teach at least some of the days of the week, and that makes it difficult to attend all classes.
